In October of 2012, I was able to go to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. What an adventure!!! You get up at about 5:00 a.m., drive to the launch site, and watch the balloons fill up and go into the sky. There are hundreds of balloons at the Mass Ascension, which takes place at about 7:30 a.m. You can walk out on the lawn among the balloons and watch the balloon crew spread out their balloons and prepare to launch.
At dusk, there is the "balloon glow" which takes place at about 6:00 p.m. The balloons fill up and glow beautiful colors. Just like in the morning, you can walk among the balloons and watch the crew fill up their balloons.
